Josh Mizzi

Josh joined BBW in 2019, and is a valuable member of the BBW Lawyers’ Commercial Team.

Prior to his commencement at BBW, Josh gained extensive experience working as a Junior Legal Counsel at one of Australia’s largest providers of Aged Care, Retirement Living, Disability Services and Early Education,  undertaking varied commercial and corporate matters involving commercial drafting and advising. Josh’s occupied an integral role in the provider’s team tasked with preparing for and responding to the recent Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. Josh’s range of commercial work has enabled him to build fundamental skills and strengths which now underpin his role within the BBW Lawyers’ Commercial Team.

As part of BBW’s Commercial Team, Josh is involved in commercial litigation and commercial recovery activities, including appearances at the Local Court and District Court of NSW, and general commercial matters, such as contract and commercial disputes. 
Josh is very passionate about Aged Care, Retirement Living and Disability Services, and has been involved in BBW’s preparation of various Independent Aged Care Compliance Investigations and Reports for a number of national aged care providers, and acting for and advising a number of aged care providers in their responses to enquiries from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, the Aged Crime Prevention Officer, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Josh also undertakes contract and document preparation, drafting and negotiation in relation to retirement village contract rollovers for various national retirement village operators.

Josh has used his knowledge and experience, coupled with appearances at various Courts and Tribunals, to build on his passion and extend his knowledge of these areas of the law.

  • Internal Legal Subject Matter Expert for Uniting (NSW.ACT) in the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
  • Worked alongside external Legal Counsel in relation to one of Australia’s largest Not-for-profit’s engagement in a two staged $1.3 billion social and affordable housing fund.
